reality is frequently inaccurate

I’ve discovered something new to be anxious about: what if the mail comes, but the postman is too lazy to walk to my front door to collect my signature, and instead just puts a note in the box and carries my envelope back to the office? 

I know the angle to glance out the window, the one which gives me the best view of the mailbox; I found something to send outbound, so the flag will tell me whether the post’s been in yet.  There’s only so many times one can check before feeling ridiculous, and I’m an hour past that point by now.
